Achieving Balance, Moving Forward.
KEY AREAS OF GROWTH
BEDROCK is all about safety, starting with being physically and emotionally safe. This is a time for us as new caregivers to get to know your student and for them to start feeling safe around us! This will also be the time your student starts developing regulation skills. Relaxing some of their vigilance and control, students can now invest their energy into tasks of normal development. Daily routines & rhythms begin in the three areas of wellness: physical, emotional, and environmental.
CORNERSTONE Now that your student is feeling safe and has settled in, our focus is on self-awareness and to put some of the new skills they have learned to the test. Also, start working on insight: Students asking, “What do I need to do to help keep myself regulated?” and finding ways to be consistent.
KEYSTONE This will be the time to focus on self-advocacy skills, knowing who to advocate to, how to advocate, and at what time. Your therapist will review final Pathway report with you and your student, which will help you plan appropriately for the best next steps.
MILIEU-BASED THERAPY
Milieu-based therapy provides a comfortable setting for adolescents to engage in therapy who may feel resistance to more traditional and formal office-based therapy.
In Spark Balance, we’re dedicated to making psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care more impactful by stepping outside the traditional office and integrating it into everyday activities. Our clinicians and prescribers interact with your child throughout the day and in various settings, allowing us to better understand their challenges and offer support right when it’s needed. This approach means therapy happens in real-life situations, not just in one scheduled session. We’re thrilled to use this innovative method to address your child’s unique needs in a way that feels natural and effective.
Rest assured, we still offer private conversations and formal sessions for those sensitive moments.
