Spark Balance Serves Neurodiverse or Autism Level 1 Boys, Age 13-17.5.

CLINICAL PROFILE

Some form of neurodevelopmental disorder

  • Autism or closely related symptom cluster

  • Learning disorders or Nonverbal Learning Disorder

  • Other Neurodevelopmental Disorder Unspecified

  • Average to high IQs (80+) but may have lower Processing Speeds or Working Memory

  • ADHD

Many students have secondary mood or dysregulation issues

  • Generalized Anxiety or Social Anxiety

  • Persistent Depressive Disorder

  • Executive Functioning Deficits including impulse control issues

  • Easily overwhelmed or dysregulated, trouble with self-regulation

Usually has a social/emotional deficit involved

  • Has trouble making and keeping friends, not knowing how they fit in

  • Difficulty taking the perspective of others

  • May be diagnosed with PTSD or Reactive Attachment Disorder

  • May have some form of gender dysphoria or sexual questioning

History of maladaptive coping strategies (intense fight/flight/freeze responses)

  • Self-harm

  • Elopement

  • Addictions including sexual and technological

  • Anger

  • Defiance

  • History of eating disorder or disordered eating

  • Suicidal intent, threats, or attempts

  • Lacks ability to appropriately self-advocate

HOW ADMISSION WORKS

1) Begin your application online. Submit recent and pertinent docs as requested in the online application. Email SparkAdmissions@heritagertc.org when your application is complete and you are ready for your child’s file to be reviewed, which takes 1-3 days by our Clinical Team.

 

2) Upon approval for your child's enrollment, we will reach out to arrange a Present call or a Spark Balance tour. Our priority is for you to get a feel for Spark Balance and ensure you feel both safe and comfortable with your choice of placement. Virtual tours are also available.

 

3) If you select Spark Balance for your child, we will work with you to schedule the enrollment date. Please note that the enrollment paperwork process typically takes about 1 week.
